Yay, my website is back up. I’m getting a little tired of my hosting provider, because of the amount of downtime. And it’s stupid little things, like a configuration change that might affect you, as opposed to a “we’re moving the server so you will be offline”. Where is the reliability?
I remember my very first hosting package, it was with a company called KangaWeb. They were soooo good, but a bit too expensive for me, and not as flexible…
They also had a 99.9% uptime track record, which I can vouch for. In 18 months my sites were never offline.
I moved to another company which was equally as good, but their payment facility changed one day and my credit card details were never accepted, so I had to look elsewhere… which brings me to where I am now, to a provider I am currently, really disappointed with.
So what hosting company do you use, and how would you rate it?

I use SurpassHosting: surpasshosting.com : and I would give it 5 stars. Amazing service and help from the entire staff. I’ve been with them 2.5 years and I’ve never really been down and the time I was down, it was up within 2 hours.

i use netrillium now but i used to use activewebhosting, both are really good.

Wow, I am really sorry about your host. That is exactly why I opened up my own hosting service. You can e-mail me if you’re interested about prices since my site is currently being worked on and installing a new billing system but all clients are up! :) I really hate it when you have a lot of downtime. I went through that with a few hosts I went with in the past. My sites were always up and down. It’s annoying. Some hosts just shouldn’t host if all they are gonna give you is problems and downtime! Good luck finding another one! :)

Oh that sucks. Saddly though I never went through that. See I’m hosted for free by a good friend of mine so that kind of solves my problem.

I’m with DreamHost, I haven’t been with them for too long, but I love them already :) You should check them out if you’re planning to change hosts.

My hosting provider is New Media Express, which is a local hosting company. I liked it because it was very easy to make payments. They are also quite prompt in helping solve technical issues (with exception to that one time the guy who helped me could not type in correct English). However, they are down for about 10 minutes once a day and the space they provide is quite limited. I am going to upgrade, though.
I feel you with the downtime. That is a problem with my hosting as well.
I don’t know about international hosting, but I have been hearing good things about this company called A Small Orange.
