I just don't feel like growing up
Thursday December 7, 2006

I had this thought the other day: I’m almost 25, but I don’t feel ready!

I look at 25 as being the age where you are no longer a kid, but you’re full swing in the adult world! You’re responsible and can work things out yourself.

Haha.

I don’t feel ready for that responsibility. I mean, I’ve achieved a lot. I own my unit and I don’t live at home… I’ve been overseas without adults. I don’t know… I’ve done enough to be considered “old enough” (for most things) but I guess I just don’t feel ready to be 25!

It’s not some kind of crisis (like the one my sister had when she turned 25 – “ohmigod I’m so old”), I just… I want to have my hand held a little =)

It’s funny how when you’re a kid you can’t wait to grow up, and as you get older you really want the things you had when you were little. I guess it’s the whole “grass in greener on the other side” thing.

Thanks for all of your advice from my last post. I already save my money and I almost always eat at home for dinner and I’m careful with my cash, but I’m one of those people who always wants more. I guess I need to lower my expectations of myself a little bit. Always trying to be on top of everything and excelling always, I think when it comes to the end of the year I’m always a little burned out.

omg, i so want to grow up. But I am enjoying my “childhood” so thats good. Yes, it does seem that the grass is greener on the other side. But when the whole “dead” thing comes into the picture…

yeah. Glad you saved money! Happy Holidays!

I don’t think you should worry too much about it. Seeing as I’m only 15, this may hold no wait but I honestly think that its okay for you to want to continue being a kid. Even though you are turning 25, it doesn;t mean you have to give up every childhood aspect of your life. You just need to moderate it.:)

Haha I used to think that about 22ish but I don’t feel that now. I think at any age you really feel as young as you want. Sure, you are responsible for more and you’ve achieved more, but that doesn’t mean you have to feel “grow up” or old.

Being a kid has it’s charm but I really enjoy being an adult. We’re still not very old in our twenties. I see this a funny period in life because we are grown up and we take responsibility but it’s ok to be wild and crazy too. I’m 23 and I look forward to turning 24 and 25 because that’s not very old at all. Enjoy life as it is and the age you’re in. Sonner or later we’ll all be serious enough but this is the time of your life. At least that’s what I think. :)

Just wait until you’re 30. You will be like “Oh crap, I’m too old for ___”
