Ima snow bunny!!!!
Monday August 28, 2006
I have the day off today! Yay!! Hehe, I notice that I have had a lot of days off in the last few months, and the best thing that I have noticed alongside of this is that they haven’t been sick days or annual leave days, they have been days that work has given me to take off =)
But today our office is closed because we spent the weekend being snow bunnies in Thredbo. Yups, it’s winter right now and my wonderful work organised a trip to the snow for everyone – and then very generously gave everyone the day off today to recuperate.
Inexperience
I myself have never been skiing or anything like that before. Being a true Sydney-sider, snow is a bit of a non-entity for me, so it was very exciting to take my first ever snowboarding lesson. I have to admit that it was pretty tricky, and I think that I had my feet around the wrong way (I’m pretty sure I’m a natural, not a goofy as I am when I “try” and surf) and that really threw me off.
Injuries
Thredbo’s “green” runs aren’t exactly what I would call “green” (I call green straight and not steep), but after we finished our lessons I managed to get down the mountain (twice!) without seriously damaging myself and my only bad injury was at the end of the day when I was exhausted and making my way back to the others… I was going fine until I flipped over and twisted my left knee behind me. It hurt like hell and for about 5 minutes I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get up, but it feels a ton better now.
Accolades
So it was fun =) We had a work “awards” night on Saturday night and I was so surprised when I found out that everyone had voted me as the person they most enjoyed working with. I certainly had not expected anything from that night, so I was really surprised and pleased. The awards were really funny. There were serious ones (like the one I won, MVP and and most improved) and then there were funny ones such as “biggest dummy spit”, the “foot-in-mouth award” and “biggest story teller”. We spent a lot of the trip laughing.
The end
It was good to get home last night though – I really missed the weekend away from Vincent and I was really happy to see him when we got back to Sydney. I’m sore all over and I’m hobbling around but I’m still smiling. There are going to be a lot of funny stories at work tomorrow.
Anyway, that has been what I have been up to. Next year I want to go to the snow again and take Vincent with me. It would be fun to go together… take lessons again and all of that. Maybe try skiing… but that’s next year when I again have the time and the money =)

Haha, sounds like fun :O I’d sure like to work for whatever company YOU work for when I grow older :P
You didn’t win any of the ‘foot-in-mouth’ awards or anything like that, did you? =P It wouldn’t suprise me if you tried to keep that from your readers xD
Anyway, I hope you really did have fun at Thredbo and you aren’t just saying that you did because you’re desperate for something to blog about :O
