Melting in the heat
Tuesday January 29, 2008

It is very hot today. Very hot. Darned my boiling hot apartment! Our air conditioning is completely ineffective on days like today.

It’s my lunch break and I’m working at home, so with nothing else to do and no energy to go outside, say “hello” to a midday weekday blog.

This weekend was the Australia Day long weekend, so we got to enjoy a BBQ with my family and lunch with Vincent’s family AND a shopping trip to Cabra. Normally you’d only be able to fit two out of three in =)

I like doing my grocery shopping at Cabra. It’s so much cheaper, and the fruit/veges and meat are so much fresher.

Oh! But the best part is the Pho. When you haven’t yet mastered the making of Pho at home, Cabra is about the best place to get it from. Mmm… blogging about it makes me want to eat it.

There are also a lot of wedding dress places in Cabra. Going on the weekend reminded me that it’s somewhere I want to look, particularly if I find a couture dress I really like but can’t afford.

Speaking of wedding, my Mum has tried to interfere with the wedding plans again. Sigh… It’s quite difficult having her involved because she always wants things to be her way. At some point I’m going to need to remind her that we’re paying for more than half of the wedding… If not all of it depending on what our finances are like closer to the date, so she needs to remember boundaries.

If she tries to force “the wedding singer” on us, I think I’ll snap. “The wedding singer” is the guy that they hired for my sisters wedding. It’s not that he was bad, but neither Vincent or I were that impressed and we’d much rather avoid the 70s style wedding singer.

Strategies anyone?

Is there anything else you can occupy your ma with? I haven’t been involved in planning a wedding, but misdirection is always a good thing when dealing with ppl who think they know everything. :D

    Thanks for the comment :)
In England its freezing cold, I would love to have a hot day lol.
Sorry to hear about your mom interfering in your wedding plans, have you tried talking to her about it?

I don’t have any strategies… My mom is helping me a lot with mine, but she isn’t trying to force anythhing on me. :) I guess im lucky.
Like Gill said, maybe you can find something else for her to be occupied with?
I wish it was hot here. It snowed yesterday. :/ Not really my favorite season. I’d rather it be hot.
    I love your layout.
O, check out my wedding blog too if you’d like. :) www.planningido.misstuned.com

Maybe there’s something you can let her do, like something easy but good, ah it’s so cold here (Holland) Australian Day sounds awesome!

Maybe you should try and talk to your mom about what you want..then work from there? Remind her that it’s supposed to be your day and you should be able to do what you want. ;)

    Hmm… nope. No strategies.

But Pho is definitely yummy. And I should congratulate you on getting married soon, if it isn’t too belated.

Yes, the whole world dominating thing comes with the evil laugh. Though it’s played out in my head, because I think I’d be giving my mother a little too much to worry about if I ever did it out loud. Spinning on the chair in an eerie fashion is strange enough.
