Once again we're playing the waiting game
Thursday August 17, 2006
I’m at working… waiting again! It’s almost 7pm and I would love to go home but I got roped into a project at the very last minute and I’m waiting for QC to finish testing…
I’ve been really short-tempered today for some reason and it has been a really big effort to keep the happy face up… Sometimes it really brings me down, having to keep smiling when your insides are boiling. Lol.
Vincent is really into this show called Weeds... and I thought that the whole idea posed a really interesting question.
Scenario
You have >=2 teenaged children and your partner passes away unexpectedly. You don’t have any insurance (or life insurance payout was minimal) and you don’t have any working skills (you’ve been a stay-at-home for the last 12-16 years). You don’t have an extended family or close friends to rely on, and you no longer have any money to send your kids to a nice school, live in a nice neighbourhood and pay for your at least one childs extensive dental work…
If you go and try and get a job, the only one you can possibly get because of your lack of skills is a low paid one, which takes you away from your family most of the time.
What do you do?

Answering to your question..:
I’ll probably get the government to help by applying for something. (It’s availible in Singapore..) and I’ll probably downgrade to a smaller house and get the job. I think my children will understand since they are teenagers.

Haha.. that show looks good! I don’t know how long she could keep dealing though.
I think I would get the benefit from the government and keep trying for a job.

That’s a very tough situation but I would have to say keep looking for another job that runs during the day when your kids are at school. Until then, keep relying on the government. It’ll be no benefit for society to have two or more neglected children whom might end up being terrible adults.

I love the layout. And I have to say I’m fond of the CSS also. Oh, I know what you mean with the temper thing! I hate it! Weeds just came to Norway (where Im from). The first episode was last Monday. I kinda liked it..
I wouldnt know what to do… But first of all, I would make sure I didn’t end up like that.. I am so afraid that something will turn out wrong, so if I would even be a stay-at-home mother, I would have some kind of extra on the side..

hmmm… dont know what i’d do… but everyone is resilient and i’m sure there’s a way to survive… even if it entails going through stuff that you’re not used to doing or living.
