Sick sick sick...
Thursday April 17, 2008

Last weekend it was my Dad’s 60th birthday. We bought him a digital camera, since it’s been something like 7 years since he bought his old one. Lol. We ended up getting him a Canon IXUS 70. Not the newest model out there, but it comes with rave reviews from friends =)

My Dad’s birthday was pretty fun overall. They hiredthe “community hall” (seats around 30) in the complex that they now live at, and we BBQd and ate much food! My sister catered most of it. She made these fantastic salads, duck rice paper rolls and she prepped the meat (chicken skewers, tandoori lamb chops, steak) as well. Mmm… yum. I provided a cheese platter. It doesn’t seem like much in comparison, but I was so dead on the Saturday that I didn’t have any energy to help them out. I think I made up for it though by going and buying the camera.

This week I’m sick though. I feel so rotten. It’s just the flu, but the Cold & Flu tablets that I’m taking just aren’t working, and the only thing that seems to help is boiling myself to death in bed, with the electric blanket on. Sigh.

What makes it worse is that this is a really big week at work. There are two major projects that I’m a part of running at the same time, and they both have these immovable and impossible deadlines. The other developer on the team is getting really stressed out by what she’s doing, and I feel really guilty being sick and not being able to work as hard as normal.

I hope I get better soon…

Anyway, I must be off. The files I’ve been copying off the server at work are finally done and copied (gee… it only took 10 minutes). Take care!!

A really big week
Monday March 24, 2008

I haven’t updated all week… and I’ve been on leave. How slack is that? Lol. But then again, if I’m not at work, I just don’t feel like being on the computer. And I’ve had a ton of stuff to do this week.

On Monday I went shopping with one of my bridesmaids. The purpose of the hours that killed my feet, ankles and legs wandering up and down streets and shopping centres was to find Bridesmaid dresses.

Well, one day clearly wasn’t enough and even though I had a break on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and half of Saturday was also required. The most difficult part was finding a dress we liked that came in the right colour. I had decided early on that because of my bridesmaids’ availability (one lives overseas now) that pre-mades were the only way to go. It kind of sucks that we had to rush it, but I figure that since I work best under pressure…

The dresses we picked are Alfred Angelo, and the dress style is this one. The colour we have ordered them in is Dusty Rose.

Hmm… what else happened on this busy week? Oh, I went to the doctors on Tuesday and got my second Gardasil shot. It hurt like a mother b*tch. Darned doctor!!! What a bastard, jabbed me right between the muscle. Not in the fatty part of my arm, but somewhere where it would hurt for days and days. It’s still bruised!! And don’t even let me get started on the rest of the check up… All that matters is that I survived =)

And on Friday it was Good Friday. And that also happened to coincide with my birthday. We had a nice lunch at Vincent’s parents place, which my family was invited to. I had a really nice time, as did everyone else. It was fun and the food was great =)

And on Sunday we went to the beach and today to my parents place.

So yeh, busy week. I’m not looking forward to going back to work but I’ll take the good times with the bad. Lol.

I hope you’re all well, and that if you so happened to have time off over this weekend that you had a good time!

Back from the mini break
Sunday March 9, 2008

I’m back from my mini break. I guess I didn’t need to announce it as I don’t really blog all that often anymore anyway, but it helped me feel a little less obligated to update…

Last Sunday my Grandmother passed away. It was a huge shock for the whole family as even at 85 she was so fit and healthy. My Dad drove up (they live about 5 hours drive away) to see her in her last hours, last Sunday morning (he got there around 3am), so at least he got to say goodbye in time.

The funeral was last Friday. It was a really nice send off, but very sad for all of us. My Dad is the oldest child in the family, so he had quite a lot of responsibilities, but he handled it well. I think his mother would have been well proud of him.

He did (? read?) a really nice eulogy and someone (I think it was my mum) suggested that the coffin by walked out of the church accompanied by a bagpiper.

My Grandfather on the day of the funeral was OK. He held up quite well, but I wonder how he’ll cope over the next few weeks. At least he’ll be surrounded by family.

So yeh, thus the break.

I’ll blog again properly this week. The theme I think is going to be inappropriate observations on the extended family since I was so exposed to it this week, but we’ll see.

Take care.
